OOTD 22/04/2012

Top - Zara
Skirt - H&M
Shoes - ASOS
Earring cuff - Topshop

Here is what I wore today. My mum got this top years ago and she gave it to me about two years ago; it's one of those pieces I always forget I have then when I rediscover it, I fall in love with it all over again. I absolutely love the grainy effect it has and the cream detailing on the trim sections.
The shoes I'm wearing are also another one of those re-discovered pieces, I love the bold colour and I can't wait to wear them this spring/summer.

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend!

Lots of Love

OOTD 18/04/2012

Headband - Tie Rack
T-Shirt - DIY
Jacket - Rokit
Leather Panel Leggings - Topshop
Shoes - Primark

This week I went back to sixth form and I now have 2 weeks until my first exam and 6 weeks until I break up for study leave and finish school so I've got a lot going on revision wise. I haven't had the best start to the week and my family is going through a tough stage since one of my aunties passed away (hence the rough looking face) but I have learnt that life goes on and whatever doesn't kill me will only make me stronger. I've got great friends who have been really lovely and my family is just amazing & they mean the world to me and I think this week I have realised this more than ever. Although death is a terrible thing for those left behind, I honestly believe that everything happens for a reason and she is now in a better place so all that I can do is keep smiling because that is what she would have wanted me to do.
I hope that didn't put a downer on anyone's day but I always feel better when I write stuff down and sometimes a good vent is what you need.

Anyway, on a more positive note...
I was so excited to show you guys todays' outfit because I'm wearing my bleached top which I DIYed in my last post. I really love how it turned out and I feel that it's an affordable way of adapting to the space tend which I've seen around recently. It was so easy to make and if you haven't already, check out the tutorial to see how I did it!
I am also wearing my new Vintage Levi Jacket which I got from Rokit last week in Covent Garden. I am in love with this jacket and I am having to retain myself from wearing it every day! It's so comfy and not too heavy which is great during spring and it also goes with everything which is why I've been wearing it so much over the last couple of days!
I paired these two items with my trusty leather panel leggings which I reach for when I don't know what to wear. I really liked how everything pulled together in this outfit and I hope you guys like it.

I hope everyone is having a lovely week
Lots of Love

DIY : Tie Dye & Bleach Spray Looks

Hey guys! So recently I’ve had a real urge to tie dye some plain white tees but I haven’t had the time to go and buy fabric dye and the rest of it due to revision so I’d been putting it off. I was browsing through some blogs the other day and I came across the blog Funfairs and Triangles and I was instantly inspired by her DIY’s. Her style is amazing and you guys should really check her out because she has some great posts! Anyway, she has a couple of posts where she bleaches her tops and jumpers and it looks super cool! I really liked the effect it gave so I decided to try it out myself! (Technique 1) I do really like the result but I turned the top inside out a minute ago and I’m not going to lie, I think I prefer it inside out! The bleach effect is a little more subtle and gradual which I really like. So once it’s dry, I’m going to cut the neckline and the bottom of the top to get rid of the labels so that I can make out it’s a ‘reversible top’. Depending on how bold I’m feeling, I can either wear it with the louder print or the more subtle print on show.  Versatility right there ha!
So after experimenting with the first technique, I decided that I would use the bleach and try to do a tie-dye effect on some tops and once again, I am happy with the outcome (Technique 2). I’m so excited about these pieces and the thing that gets me excited is that each print is an individual! Even if you use the same technique, the outcome is always slightly different which gives your clothes a sense of individuality.
I’ve blogged the whole process below based on how I did it, if the instructions aren’t clear enough, let me know!

TECHNIQUE 1

Technique 1 Instructions
You will need:
Item of clothing
Bleach
Empty spray container
1.       Place your item of clothing in the bath.
2.       Carefully pour some bleach into an empty spray container.
3.       Spray the bleach over your top and you the amount you spray depends on how intense you want the look to be.
4.       Leave it to stand for 30 minutes or less depending on the levels of contrast you want to achieve. Since I did this on a black top, the effects were instant and I could see the colour being drained out within a few minutes.
5.       Rinse your top making sure you get rid of as much bleach as you can.
6.     Wash your top as normal, let it dry, iron it and there you go!
I absolutely love the ‘space’ trend which I have seen around lately and I think this is a more affordable way of interpreting it. Like I said before, I got this technique from Funfairs and Triangles  so if I haven’t explained myself properly, you can check out her DIY tutorial on it.

TECHNIQUE 2

Technique 2 Instructions
You will need:
Item of clothing
Bleach
Rubber bands

1.       Place your item of clothing in the bath.
2.       Using your fingers, pinch the middle of the top and turn your hand in a clockwise direction. Continue to do this until the whole of your top is spiralled up within itself.
3.       Take a rubber band and place it around your top to keep it secure.
4.       Take your bleach and carefully pour/drizzle it over ¼ of your top
5.       Leave it to stand for 30 minutes.
6.       After 30 minutes, unravel your top and rinse it.
7.       Wash your top as normal, let it dry, iron it and you are done!
I used this technique on two different tops and I am very happy with the result of them both! I love the effect this technique gives because it’s not too overwhelming but it still gives your top that cool hippie look. I am definitely going to wear this top to death during spring/summer!

I hope you guys like this post and if anyone tries out any of the techniques I'd love to know how you got on!

Have a great week!

Lots of Love

So yesterday I went to London with one of my best friends and despite the rainy weather, we had a really lovely day. Primarily, we went to take some street style photos for my photography exam work but I also made a couple of sneaky purchases which will feature in some upcoming post soon. We walked around Covent Gardens, Carnaby Street and of course Oxford Street; we got some amazing photos which I will defiantly put up on here once my exam work has been moderated.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

I love this jumper so much you guys! My Dad was having a clear out last year and I snatched it before he put it in the charity shop pile. I usually only wear it around the house when I'm not going anywhere but I felt like chucking it one with this outfit.

Coat/Blazer - New Look
Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Belt & Bag - H&M
Shoes - Primark
Earrings - Accessorize
Necklace - Gift

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you're all having a lovely day! Today I wore this dress which I am in love with and I got it in the winter sale at Dorothy Perkins for £7, bargain or what! I love the pleats it has and I also really like the length of it. I wore it with my trusty blazer/ coat which I also got in the winter sales; I love this coat and is so good for just throwing over a plain outfit. As you can see, this outfit hasn't got a large variety of colours, I have got a black base and I have layered on top of it all tan accents which is very unusual for me because I'm not usually a fan of matchy-matchy accessories but today I just felt like it and hopefully it looks okay.

Hope you all have a lovely week!

Lots of Love
